Custom Plastic Injection Molding

plastic injection moldingPlastic injection molding is our most popular plastics process to date. From cell phones to computer components, injection molding for your custom needs is the process of choice. Our fast cycle times lead to low cost parts, even when they are custom made. Injection molding is the process of melting plastic pellets and injecting the molten plastic into a mold using high pressure to form the end product. From initial part design to shipping production parts, Charloma has the capability to manage your project. We feature an in-house tool maintenance program that helps minimize down time and maximize tooling life. Charloma has injection presses ranging from 28 ton to 1,500 tons, which allows us to handle a wide variety of custom injection molded parts. Our knowledgeable staff can handle long-run as well as short-run production. Charloma can help you select the right material to best suit your application and custom plastic injection mold.

The Plastic Injection Molding Process

Firstly, the chosen plastic material is melted down into small pellets in a heated barrel to form a liquid state. This molten liquid material is then forced into the chosen mold cavity by either a screw or ram injector which are used to control the pressure of the injection. At this stage the injected molded parts cool and harden into a solid form that fits the specifications of the mold cavity.

Benefits of Plastic Injection Molding

  • High production rates
  • Low labor costs
  • All used materials and scrap can be reused
  • Little or no post-production work required
  • Close tolerances and intricacies can be achieved on the parts
  • Custom moldings to match your need

Custom Injection Molding Services

Charloma acquired a 1,500 ton injection press with robotic automation to help meet our customer's needs. Molding sources above 1,000 tons are becoming more and more rare. Fill out our quote form and see how Charloma's custom injection molding services stack up against your current supply source. We also have two 28-ton injection presses which enables our team to mold smaller parts which would otherwise be out-sourced. If you have small purchased components you are buying out of a catalog, Charloma would welcome the opportunity to investigate whether or not a custom solution makes sense. For big or small projects, you can count on Charloma time and time again.
